DoApp Launches News Platform For iPad
Minneapolis-based mobile developer DoApp has launched an iPad version of its Mobile Local News platform for newspapers and TV stations, the company announced.
Mobile Local News has been used to distribute content for more than 300 apps on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone devices. The new version was designed to take advantage of the Apple tablet’s larger screen.
“We started from scratch on the front and back end design of our iPad solution,” DoApp CEO Wade Beavers said in a statement. “This is definitely not a refresh of our Mobile Local News design for smart phones, it’s a completely new experience. We focused on usability and user experience to create a great product, elegantly taking advantage of the metaphors and screen size offered by the iPad.”
The platform is designed to integrate into a news outlet’s existing content management infrastructure and deployed within 30 days of the start of a project, DoApp said.
New features in the iPad version include: live animated weather radar, push notifications, as well as integrated personal Facebook and Twitter posts and feeds.
Mobile Local News platform-based apps are available in more than 50 cities in the United States.
