Piano Raises Prices On Slovakia Paywall
Piano Media, the company behind Slovakia’s national paywall, is raising the price for access to the sites covered by that paywall.
Starting March 1, Piano will charge readers 3.90 euros per month — up from 2.90 euros per month — for access to content from many of Slovakia’s top publishers. The annual price rises 10 euros to 39 euros.
“We never intended to keep the price at the introductory level,” Piano CEO Tomáš Bella said in a statement. “We wanted the system to become accepted before phasing out the initial price. That was one of the things we had agreed upon with our participating publishers.”
Piano said it will grandfather in users who purchase a subscription prior to the price hike. The paywall covers 12 publishers with more than 50 different sites and services.
