WSJ EIC Baker Fills Out His Newsroom Lineup

Gerard Baker, who was named editor in chief at The Wall Street Journal earlier this month, this week named his newsroom leadership staff, including promoting Rebecca Blumenstein and Matt Murray to deputy editors in chief.

Gerard Baker, who was tapped by new News Corp. CEO Robert Thompson as editor in chief of Dow Jones & Co. and The Wall Street Journal, has set his senior editorial team.

Baker promoted Rebecca Blumenstein and Matt Murray to deputy editors in chief and elevated Almar Latour to executive editor. The moves are effective Jan. 1.

Blumenstein will be deputy editor in charge of news content, overseeing Dow Jones and the Journal's newsgathering efforts.

Murray will be deputy editor in charge of output, responsible for all of the news organization's platforms, including newswires, digital products and newspapers.

Almar will take control of the company's editorial strategy around the world, with an initial task of integrating Dow Jones Newswires and the Journal.
