Philly Papers, Guild Reach 2-Year Agreement
The Newspaper Guild of Greater Philadelphia and Interstate General Media, owners of The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News, on Thursday reached a tentative agreement for a two-year contract. Under the agreement, IGM will be contractually obligated to print both papers as daily papers. Newsroom employees will get a 2.5% pay cut for 2013 and there will be no layoffs in the first year of the contract. A ratification vote will likely occur next week, the guild said.
